As the weather continues to warm in May, the enchanting changes continue. Many birds, especially the Purple Martins are busy singing and building nests as the tree leaves flourish in numerous beautiful shades of green. The changes May brings make it a wonderful time to play in "Missouri's Top Outdoor Outpost". The upper river beckons floaters, usually offering one of the best times to canoe and see the Ozarks most canyon-like setting. On the stretch from Hwy 17 down there are over 100 caves that you can see from the river and explore! You won't find that at any shopping mall. This is a 'must see adventure' for those who want to see why the river was classified as too beautiful to dam and made a National Park. September brings welcome change to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways . As the weather cools the water gets even clearer and wildflowers come on gracefully. Many people report perfect weather for floating or hiking and not seeing anyone.
October brings brilliant fall color that often makes any where you go a scene of colorful splendor. Mid-October is usually the color peak while color changes do take place all month. This is a very special time to hike and drive and explore the Ozark National Scenic Riverways and it's geological & hydrological wonders.

Winter:

Our rates drop to over half of our summer rates in our nicest accommodations - the RIVER CABINS!
The first part of November can offer some pretty good weather and some great remnants of fall color. When the leaves drop in the forest - so do our prices, and it's a great time for a getaway. You can see a lot of neat rock formations and caves that are usually hidden and the rivers are even clearer. Our hot tub is hot and the Deluxe Cabins are a great place to snuggle up in front of the native stone fireplace or relax in the spa-bath!
From December through March peace and quiet abound with lots of cheap lodging and availability at River's Edge. Few people take advantage of this great getaway opportunity. It's a great time for a warm and cozy romantic getaway and/or a bug-free expedition!
