Q: When we call in
the summer you are always full, why?
A: Summer
is our busiest time, many times during beautiful weather you can walk
in or get in on short notice, check out our SPECIALS
page for more info.
Q: How is the
river, is it low?
A: The
JACK'S
FORK RIVER at ALLEY
SPRING flows amazingly consistent with the divine intervention
of almost 80 million gallons per day of fresh spring water. Floating
from this point 8 miles above Eminence is always good. When we do
get a lot of rain the run-off recedes quickly (due to the steep gradient)
and what seeps through the porous ground slowly disperses through
springs and gracefully spreads into the flow to the river. The CURRENT
RIVER is the Midwest's most spring fed river and offers almost
one hundred miles of good floating all year, rain or not.
Q: Do you have
a restaurant there?
A: No,
there's food available right across the street at Tim's Fast Stop
as well as beverages and misc. supplies. Downtown Eminence
is just one quarter mile South and offers old time small town splendor.
Several family restaurants and WINFIELDS
(an old fashioned soda fountain) are downtown.
Q: Do you allow
pets?
A: Pets are
NO LONGER allowed in any of our accommodations.
Q: Do you rent
canoes?
A: No,
but it is real easy to go floating. WINDY'S
CANOE RENTAL is just right across the river and offers great service
here. Call Windy's @ 573-226-3404 for canoes,shuttle, tube rental
or floating information for the Current and Jack's Fork Rivers.
Q: What other
types of things are there to do in that area?
A: Canoeing
isn't everything, even though we're considered the "Canoe Capitol
of the World" there are so many opportunities to enjoy this hydrological
wonder that the hardest thing is often to decide where to go and explore
first. You would have to drive a long way to go to a shopping mall,
but there are several shops in town. Our natural beauty abounds here
and there are more wild deer and turkey per square mile (on the average)
than people. Check out our Things
To Do page for great ideas, pictures and links and see why we're
Missouri's No. 1 Outdoor
Outpost.
